Just as a house is important for humans, a roof is equally important for cattle and buffalo houses because even though people make a living from agriculture, smallholders are not able to develop. The cost of fertilizers and medicines for agricultural laborers, gardens is increasing. Therefore, to encourage cattle breeding, subsidy is being provided for the construction of cattle sheds under the NREGA scheme.
Who is eligible for this scheme:-
To be eligible for this scheme, farmers who have at least 2 cows/buffaloes/10 sheep can apply and become beneficiaries of this scheme.

Scheme Name: Mahatma Gandhi National Remuneration and Remuneration Scheme (MGNREGA)
Subsidy: ₹57,000 (for construction of shed)
₹46,644: Building materials
₹10,556: Labor cost
For whom?: Farmers of all categories (SC/ST/General)
Eligibility: Those who have at least 2 cows/buffaloes/10 sheep.

Documents required for application:-
- Aadhar card
- Job Card (MGNREGA)
- Veterinarian’s certificate
- Land Record (RTC/Patte)
- Bank account details
Application method and process:-
Step 1: Get a job card from your Gram Panchayat (if not available).
Step 2: Obtain a “shed requirement” certificate from a veterinarian.
Step 3: Submit application + documents to the Panchayat office.
Step 4: Officials will inspect the site and approve it.
Step 5: Once the construction is complete, the subsidy will be credited to your account.
Some tips for building a shed are as follows:-
Location: High ground (not blocked by water).
Atmosphere: Plenty of air and light.
Materials: Durable roof (tin/asbestos).
